Unit 1 - Construction Phases and Design

In the context of bidding, briefly discuss the following:

• Summarize what bidding means to you in two sentances
• Briefly explain one term or concept that you had not heard of or encountered before
• Pick one of the course outcomes from the course outline and briefly describe how that outcome is relevent

I answered with the following:

• Bidding is the fourth phase of design and consists of the client selecting a contractor to begin construction, either through a competitive bid between multiple contractors or by hiring a contractor directly. The architect assists the client when interviewing contractors, comparing bids, answering questions and providing additional documentation
• An RFI is a request for information where the architect may answer questions or add details to the construction documents if the contractor needs more information
• 11. Apply problem-solving and toubleshooting skills. This outcome is relevent because issues may arise once the contractor has examined the construction documents and the architect should be able to address these problems or provide more clarity.
